Hey there, everyone. And to those Californians, hey there too!
I just wanted to say that California Agriculture Day is next week! It’ll be on March 19, 2014. Save that date! National Ag Day is March 25, 2014.

Some of the things mentioned are:
- The knowledge of agriculture and nutrition can allow people to make better decisions about their diet and health.
- “Informed citizens will be able to participate in establishing the policies that will support a competitive agricultural industry in this country and abroad.”
There is so much that goes into bringing food to our tables, whether it is the policies and making sure the food we eat is safe.
The definition of safe means many things. We have to make sure our dairy and meat is safe for us to consume. We also have to protect our crops from pest infestation, which can happen . If a certain type of bug, such as the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP), act on one of our citrus trees, it can spread the disease “huanglongbing”.It can really devastate the citrus trees in that area. Thus, also affecting how much fruits are produced. This affects the market, how much of these fruit people can eat, etc.
There is so much that goes into bringing food to our tables and it is good to read up on it. I intern for the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA, since November 2012) and there is a lot of work that goes into getting food onto our tables.
P.S. Would you guys like if I have a page of all the classes I have taken/will take to graduate with a degree in Dietetics? I find that it can be useful so that future/aspiring students will have an idea of what courses they will need to take. Any thoughts?
