Happy Friday everyone. How are you guys doing today? I’m doing alright, thank you very much. Before I get into anything else, here were my workouts for the week.
I didn’t run as much as I planned to this week. It’s hard balancing work and school. Plus, it’s been warm! I’m happy I haven’t been slacking too much from my workouts. I didn’t even post a weekly meal plan this week. I winged it.
So, our class went to the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company for a field trip on Wednesday. It was a Sustainability tour. They talked about the heat, air-conditioning, and lighting. It uses sensors to tell if people are in the room. HVAC (heating, ventilating, air conditioning) is what they use in their big room (and other rooms) where they usually host a lot of events. When you first enter the room, it’s warm. However, as people come in and stay, it cools down. It’s kind of interesting. It’s the first time I’ve been in a room that uses the technology.
They also talked about the solar panels they use on their warehouses and how they store their brewed beer in kegs. They also make bio-diesel fuel from the used vegetable oil from their restaurant. What is even more interesting is that they compost all organic waste from their restaurant. They have their own composting program, which they use to grown their herbs and vegetables in their garden to use for their restaurant.
That’s only a few of they many things they do to try to be sustainable.
