Happy New Year 2020!

Happy New Year everyone! I can’t believe it’s 2020, a new decade. So much has happened the past decade and I can’t what to see what’s in store for this decade, and year.

So, on a bad note, I have not lost weight as I had wanted to. But at least I did not gain weight. I feel like this is my maintenance weight when I workout (unstructured) and eat how I want to normally. If I were to be strict on my diet and my workout, it’d be a lot different. On a good note, I am happy to start off the new decade with new changes and goals! Here they are.

First Goal – Transition into a more plant based diet

Mi novio and I will be transitioning into a more plant-based diet. The end goal is to be vegan. For now, we won’t buy any more meat products and finish any that we have at home. We don’t like wasting food. However, we do want to do a full vegan challenge next month in February. I will be testing my blood right before the challenge and right after it. I want to see how my cholesterol and everything changes when switching to a vegan diet. I will also be taking my blood pressure too. We will post before and after pictures too to see if there are any changes.

We are still being flexible as we want to see how the food is and if we can maintain it.  At least now is the time to be vegan since there are so many more vegan options out there and that it’s becoming more popular and acceptable in society. For now, we do want to be vegan. However, if we are with our Asian families (who believe that you have to eat meat to be healthy), we might eat small amounts of meat. However, we do plan on eating mostly plant based foods, hoping that it isn’t cooked with any animal products (oyster sauce, chicken broth, etc.). One way to combat it is to bring a vegan entree that we can eat. But we will see how it goes. The other thing is when we are on vacation, how that will work out. Some places might not have that many vegan options. The point is that we will eat vegan for the most part and will not go out of our way to eat meat products. For sure during our challenge, we will be full vegan and see how it goes.

The reason we are transition is that we same a Netflix documentary called The Game Changers. If you test the blood of a vegan person and of a meat eater, you can see how cloudy the blood of a meat eater is. Imagine that going through your blood vessels, seeing how it could clog your arteries. They claim that going vegan will give you more energy and that it will be especially helpful when doing sports and physical activity. I do believe that. Mi novio is doing it because he wants more energy and is hoping it will improve his basketball. I am doing it for more of the health benefits and I don’t need meat in my life. I had periods of time in my life that I ate vegetarian but it wasn’t sustainable since my parents did not support that diet.

Back to the documentary. I don’t believe that meat is evil, that it is terrible for the body. That is what the documentary is trying to do. However, I do see the benefits of eat less meat and going towards more of a plant based diet. After the challenge, we may decide to be flexitarian, eat vegan for the most part and eat very few meat/meat products when with our families or on vacation (depending on what food is available). Or we will maintain our vegan lifestyle. We will see.

Mi novio has done a lot of research to see what nutrients, food, etc. we need and what we can eat if we were to go out to eat to inform himself. I already know as a nutritionist. We will have to stick to a meal plan so that we can be healthy and not be deficient in anything.

Second Goal – Fitness

My 2nd goal is to become stronger and lose weight. I am going to have more structure to my workouts. Before, I was just randomly doing weight machines with no specific goal in mine. Now, it will be more structured. I will be doing a pull-push-legs/abs type of thing. I will be doing cardio 3-4 times a week. This will help build strength and I hope to be able to do a pull-up this year. I will also be stretching after every workout so that I can be more flexible. Here is the plan.

Sunday – legs/abs + cardio

Monday – Push

Tuesday – Pull + Cardio

Wednesday – Legs/abs

Thursday – Push + cardio

Friday – Pull + cardio

Saturday – Rest

The cardio will be randomly spread out throughout the week depending on how I feel and how busy I am. I will be doing Pilates core workouts to work on my abs and do a 15-20 minute night yoga video at least 3 x a week. `This should help relieve some stress, muscle tension, and help me relax before going to bed.

I do have other goals in regards to my professional life, my personal life (such as organization skills, etc), and working on improvement relationships I have in my life with my family, novio, and friends. However, I feel that once I reach my goal of losing weight, it will give me the confidence to be able to improve everything else in my life as it will improve my self-esteem and confidence.

Happy New Year! It’s 2018!

Happy New Year everyone! It’s 2018. And I can’t believe it’s almost February. I am so sorry that I haven’t posted in more than a month. Things have been so crazy during the holidays. My sister, who goes to school in SoCal, came back home during her winter break. I spent a lot of time with friends and family. It was just nice to relax and enjoy their company. Another reason why I haven’t been posting is because I got sick after the New Year. No fun. I didn’t work out for two weeks because of it. Not a good way to start the New  Year. Plus, I’ve been busy.

Anyway, I’ll start off with a picture of me in Napa. My family went to Napa during the holidays. We also did a lot of other things but that will be in another post, as well as my workouts the past month. For now, this post is about what I want for the New Year.

So, I don’t have New Years Resolutions but I do have things I want to improve on and goals. Here they are:

Fitness Goals:

  • Do a five minute ab workout either in the morning or right before going to bed
  • Doing a full pull-up, with no assistance
  • Getting stronger
  • Start running more (at least 2-3 times a week)
  • Do yoga once a week

Overall Goals: 

  • Lose weight. Mainly, I want a body type similar to Shakira, since we are the same height. I know it’s impossible to have the same body type as her, but I do want to slim down and tone up more.
  • Be more organized! I want to use my time better, so that means:
    • Using my planner
    • Having alarms on my phone for various things
    • Using the calendar app on my phone to remember events
    • Keep my bedroom and work area at work more organized (aka declutter and organize)
  • Blog three times a week
    • Fitness Friday
    • Weekly Meals and Workouts
    • Health/Nutrition Topic or Life Post (I think this is what I mainly need to work on, having posts other than Fitness Friday or Weekly Meals and Workouts)
  • Budget – I mean, I do pretty well with saving money but what I mainly need help with is just not eating out so much (that’s where like half of my money I use goes to)
  • Spend more time with family and friends
  • Spend more time with music – playing cello and singing
  • Read more – I bought a few self help books on Amazon earlier this month. I should starting reading those soon….
  • Be more optimistic – look at the glass half full, not half empty
  • Improve my Spanish speaking skills (take a class at a community college?)

That’s all I can really think of right now. I’m pretty sure I will think of other things but I think this is a good list to start out with.

Weekly Meals and Workouts 91

Happy New Year everyone! How are you guys doing today? I’m doing alright, thank you very much. I ran 4 miles today, just like my plan said. It was a hard run (so sad). It’s just been a long time since I ran. I will get back into it. That is why I am training for two half marathons, to get back into the swing of things. I also did a Jillian Michael’s DVD, which wasn’t too bad. Mi novio bought me Jillian Michael’s Killer Body DVD. It was released last year and I cannot wait to try it. It looks like a good challenge for me.

My New Years celebration has been the same every year. My family walked around Old Sac and then we had a family potluck for dinner. We went to my older cousin’s house to celebrate. We ate, sang karaoke, and played card games. It was fun.

Anyway, here’s my first plan of the New Year.

Lately + New Years Resolution

Hi everyone. How are you guys doing today? I’m doing alright, thank you very much. I am so sorry that I have not been posting for a while. I have been so busy and I have been sick the past few weeks. Ever since coming back from Vegas during Thanksgiving, I only had one week of not being sick. I am feeling a lot better now but my eating and my workouts have deteriorated.

I was sick during finals week and boy, was it not fun. I did well on my finals though. I didn’t let being sick get in the way.

So, that is what has been up. I have not worked out for nearly a month. Since Thanksgiving, I only worked out four days. Two of which were this past Saturday and Sunday. I did a workout DVD on Saturday. I tried running 3 miles on Sunday and it did not turn out so well. I have to get back into shape! It is crazy what taking a month off working out can do to you.

So, I have a some New Year’s Resolutions. I have listed them below.

  • Run at least 3 half marathons in 2016
  • Run a few 10K races (two or three in 2016)
  • Meal Preparation every Sunday (this will help me save money too!)
  • This is a not so good resolution but I would like to lose some weight by just working out and eating healthier
  • Try not to eat out as much (meal prepping will help with this)
  • Think Positive (mi novio’s suggestion)

I plan to run two half marathons early on next year: One on March 13, 2016 and April 3, 2016. Here is my training plan.

Wish me luck on my training. It has been a while since I ran. Going from running 30 miles a week to nothing has been a big change. I did gain a few pounds that I want to lose. The weight doesn’t matter though. I just want to be healthier.

Happy New Year and 1 year Blogiversary

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you guys have a prosperous new year and do your best to reach any goals you may have set for yourselves. Also, it’s my one year blogiversary! Yea!

Anyway, I wanted to say that I ran 1,192.2 miles last year! I can’t believe it. The year before, 2013, it was around 962 miles, which also included the elliptical. 2014 only includes running.

I don’t really have any goals for the New Year except to improve on myself. Being healthy, working, saving money, going to school, maintaining a good relationship with my family, keeping in touch with friends, etc. That’s all I really want for the New Year.

So, let me tell you guys what I have been up to the past week.

On Sunday, my cousins and I went out to eat a late lunch and did Karaoke. We also went to Vampire Penguin, a shaved ice place.

I ordered a Curry Mixed Vegetable Crepe, which came with fries and a salad. I also ordered a milk tea with it. After eating, we did karaoke, which was so much fun.

Those are just 3 of the 5 shaved ice creations we ordered. The last one is the Strawberry Cheesecake. It actually tasted like a Strawberry Cheesecake.

It has also been really cold here lately. I decided to heat up some soup. Amy’s Low Sodium Lentil Soup. I ate it along with some egg rolls. It really warmed me up.

Yesterday was shopping day! We went to the mall. This was my outfit.

I ended up buying a sweater and two pairs of jeans. It’s really hard to find a pair of jean that fit, that are under $20. Jeans are so expensive. I bought mine at JcPenny, $17.99 each. It’s not a bad price compared to other places. I bought a pair of skinny jeans and a pair of bootcut jeans.

You won’t believe the sizes for the jeans. Let’s just say, numbers don’t matter. Trust me. I usually buy my jeans of the same brand. So, regular short bootcut jeans, I’m a size 5. The curvy short bootcut jeans, I’m a size 3. The Super Skinny Jeans, you won’t believe the size I bought. 9. That’s right. A size 9. They are all of the same brand! If you look at different brands, the sizes on you would probably change.

That’s why I am saying, don’t say “I want to be a size 0” or whatever. The truth is, the numbers don’t matter. Each brand is different and each body is different. Hey. My sizes range from 3-9. That’s crazy!

I’m off to do some family things now for the New Year. We have these traditions we do for the holidays and it’s nice. All of my cousins, aunts, uncles, etc all hang out and come together. Then again, we see each other often since we all live in the same city. But, it’s still nice to have these traditions.
